Competitive Events
The Culinary Arts program at West Ashley High School has the opportunity to take part in the ProStart Event. This program allows students to earn a Certificate of Achievement which gives students the opportunity to earn money, scholarships, and college credit. To earn this certificate students must:

Take the classes and pass the national exams for both Year 1 and Year 2.

Work 400 hours in the food service industry.

Complete and submit all documentation of hours worked.
The Culinary team also competes in the FCCLA Culinary Star Event that scores teams on their ability to work together to produce a quality meal using industrial culinary arts/food service techniques and equipment. To participate students must:
